The GHEL launched its first Solar Irrigation Pump at Bogra in 2012 as part of wider policies to support climate change action through renewables. The project's irrigation system is completely solar powered and widespread adoption of this technology would significantly reduce government expenses on agricultural subsidies for diesel. These green and sustainable irrigation systems has been revolutionized irrigation and crops production in Bangladesh.
