This research project involves researching and piloting sustainable schemes for segregation and conversion of wastes into “organic fertilizer/energy” products for poor local communities using a cost-benefit analysis. In Bangladesh, the goal is to increase climate resilience in Sylhet, as extreme weather is expected to further complicate the operation of water-supply, drainage and sewerage infrastructure. A good solid waste management plan remains an essential ingredient of climate resilience.
