The A-WASH project aimed to safeguard essential water services in Herat and to support a sustainable recovery by expanding access to safe water. To address the long-term structural challenges of lack of water supply and groundwater depletion, and to contribute to a sustainable recovery, the project undertook strategic capital investments safeguarding basic water supplies in Herat.
