Afghanistan is facing tremendous challenges on its way to peace, democracy and prosperity. Within its fast-growing and vibrant cities, critical challenges to overcome exist, being: the insecurity of tenure, affordable housing, management of urban land, whilst extending and sustaining urban services. Proposed solutions have highlighted the necessity to create links between state and society and links between actors involved in urban management and governance, prioritising an interconnected approach.
